Nightmare

Last nite Noreen woke everyone up at 4.30am, she was crying and crying, Lit couldnt pacify her and its frustrating as she cant relate to us of her problem. Remind me of the first few months when she goes out and then later at night she would cry like these non-stop. She finally slept at 7am.

Just thought of putting this here for reference.

Saturday afternoon park time, there was another toddler boy there 1.5 yrs old, comparing him and Noreen, we can proudly say Noreen is more boy than him, she just cant stop, not for 5 second, she would fiddle with everything endlessly, climb anything she can climb.

Weaning update

The 3rd night everything ran smoothly, when she was feeling kinda tired I would play music video where she will listen till she falls asleep on my arms.

Its been a week now Noreen is fully weaned, she feels cranky and insecure, she would stick very closely to lita. Even when we go shopping she would demand lita to carry her.

This 2 nights she would play on the bed till she falls asleep, no more music video hahaha. She wakes up about 2 times but can dozed off without much help, all on her own.

Weaning

We decide its time for Noreen to be weaned, we started on the 18th Nov, took us a lot of courage to take this route, with nen nen she still can wake up at least 3 times a night, imagine without nen nen how are we gonna pacify her???.

We decide to take her out the whole afternoon to play, hopefully it'll make her so exhausted that she would sleep better. We were also told to put ginger and chilli on Lita's nipple to make it taste yucky for her.

The ginger thing work, Noreen didnt like the taste, but she goes a bit cranky, we had to distract her with other things.

The first night, I will play music video for her, she would watch till she falls asleep on my lap, then about 2 hours later she woke up, luckily she was really exhausted from playing the whole day at times square, she was crawling all over the bed looking for Lita, but about a minute later she would just sleep off without us doing anything, 2 hours later again the same routine, then horror start around 4 - 5 am, she woke up good this time and cry so loud that it shake the building. We tried to pacify her, carry her, sing to her, play music and nothing works, she was crying and choking on her saliva, its really scarry, I think this is the first time I've seen Noreen cry so badly.

In the end we decide to be extra cruel, we off all the lights and just pretend to sleep, leaving the poor girl to cry and cry and cry until she was so tired that she doze off. Our heart was really broken. But then we;re happy this is the first full day she had no nen nen.

2nd day: same routine took noreen to times square, find an empty spot and just let her run wild till she falls asleep. Night time, I would play MTV till she doze off, then sure enuf her usual routine she wakes up about 2 hours later, this time we notice its easier for her to sleep if we put her in the prone position and pat on her back to pacify her, it works like a charm, she was back to sleep in a minute. She woke up a total of 3 times, accurate like a clock, but this 3 times we were able to pacify her without any issue.

Today is the 3rd day Noreen is without nen nen, tonight we're not sure what she has install for us, but today she really play hard, so will update soon.

She is much more cranky than usual, cant blame her, nen nen withdrawal syndrome.

Dumb Parents

Noreen was refusing food for the passed 3 days, we thought she's having teething problem so didnt bother much coz from the passed experienced. She had fever last night and we just gave her paracetomal we had on standby. When the fever didnt go away on the 3rd day, I sense something is not right and took her to clinic. Bummer doc told us she was having sore throat, poor girl, having dumb parents like us.

Doc gave her antibiotics and 3 days later she started eating again when her throat is better. Lesson of the day, go see doctor whenever fever comes.

Mid autumn Panic

Got a call from Lita, she was in full panic mode and crying endlessly, I cant really hear what she was saying, I ask her to calm down and I got to know Noreen was lock in the car alone. What happen was Lita went Jusco and somehow when she put Noreen on her toddler seat Noreen manage to got hold of the car keys without her knowing. Then when she shut the door Noreen pressed the lock button and Lita was locked outside, panic she called the guard and soon plenty of people gathered around, was a big scene.

I raced from Times square back to the house, told Lita if she find Noreen having trouble breathing to break the car glass and I search the room like crazy for the spare keys, by time I got there the guard manage to find a guy to open the lock. Lita said he open the door thru the bonnet, he did it in 1 minute time, this must be the guy from gone in 60 sec.

Luckily everything turn out ok, Noreen entertaint everyone by holding on the steering wheels and dancing, then play peekaboo with everyone hahaha, shes really a naughty girl.

Anyway panic over, thank god nothing serious happen and happy mid autumn.

August Update

Havent had the time to update babys blog, this month of August is the chinese ghost festival, so automatically cut outing after evening time (not that we're doing a lot of such outing).

Noreen had her chicken Pox vaccine and Lita also had hers just in case, she is 10.5kgs, not much weight increase. Noreen is having a persistence running nose for more than a week, but it didnt bother her much as it did to us.

Lita bought her a baby chair after fedup of running after her the whole time.

Noreen finally learn to give flying kiss and also red indian howling with her hands. She can now climb on my back or front for piggy ride, but when its on my tummy she would just jump on them.

We took her to jusco kiddi land, her first time there she was a bit nervous, but soon enjoy the slide, I think she is still too young as those kids there are pretty while, maybe later when she is tougher we'll return.

Darn, its the 2nd saturday she misses her swimming time, last week coz it was raining, yesterday she registered a fever 37.8ºC. We're not sure whats causing the fever, but monitoring closely, hopefully its just teething time. Gave 2 dose of paracetamol 2.5ml.

After going thru intense thoughts we decide to shave Noreens head hoping like what elders tells us, she would grow thicker and more hair, no harm trying, but we didnt realize we get a monk in return.

MMR vacination

Notty girl got her MMR shots today, it was Priorix from GlaxoSmithKline, which unfortunately after searching the net it had some issues in Vietnam back at 12 May 2006

But I think I do have faith that this is an isolated case, vaccine started its round worldwide since 1997 and for 13 years and just 6 case reported should be extremely rare.

Anyway this is a mercury free vaccine, a single dose vial.

Noreen weight 10.1kgs, everything cost RM80.

We were told chicken pox vaccine shots schedule for next month are compulsory by Malaysian government. And even more surprises is the schedule vaccination card is needed when Noreen start registering for schools, especially chinese school! first time I hear of this.

Noreen is having congestion on her nose, Dr Margaret suggest we get the saline spray, I got 1 from guardian Sterimar Rm27.80, cant find the soft head type. Will try and see if this will help if she continue to have stuffy nose tonite, doc ask if she has running nose and we told her no, but when she got back home she started to have one gosh.

We've also change her baby car seat to a toddler front facing type, its much easier to get her in and out. She seem to have no extra liking, still complaining when the journey is a bit longer. Tho its been advice to prolong the rear facing type for as long as possible. But its getting harder and harder to keep her in the old seat, its getting hot for her on longer journey and the middle seat belt proves to be an annoyance when getting her in and out.

Noreen is finally 1 year old, Happy birthday manja girl!!! Now you are officially a toddler, lets created some havoc.

We have a simple gathering, Mui jie is here and its been a few months since we saw her. Noreen has her own gang now, Nishka and Siew Chew. But she seem to love bullying siew chew eventho she is twice her size.

Chris is missing in action and Tom had to stay another day to attend, he'll be flying back to Bangkok tomorrow.

Tiny tots

Tomorrow Noreen will turn 1 year old, looking back at the whole event, time really flies. Sometimes when I wake up and felt her tiny feet on my face, I just couldnt believe I've a baby. Its a great and I would like to call it phase III of my life.

How do I feel if you ask me about having my own family?
I would say its really fantastic.

I dread to go work in the morning, especially when Noreen will want me to carry her, she knows I'm all dressed up and she thought its kai kai time. If I put her down she would cry and it breaks my heart to disappoint her. Those bright eye with extra big tear drop, I guess I'm just too eager to pleased her.

When its afternoon time I would count the minutes to rush home and play with her, I'm not sure if I missed her so much or I just felt guilty for not being with her. Sometimes when I'm surfing the net or for example last night when watching world cup between Brazil and Netherlands, we were at the edge of our seats fearing our favourite team will be out of the game, suddenly Noreen brings me her story books and wants me to read to her, I told her baby later, papa is gonna be super upset tonight when papas favourite team is ready to pack and go home. I lied to her knowing after the game she would be asleep and I would skip reading her story books to her. Though these are only small little lies to us, but these lies just maybe major to her. Am I imagining too much now? Yea I guess so, another guilt trip for the night.

Noreens milestone for the first year:

She can walk, but walks like a drunken master, she knows how to take my dvd out from the cd player and would do so continuously, she knows how to off the TV and my notebook. She can open the fridge, the cabinet, the shoe rack and the drawer, she would take everything out and throws them on the floor. Its driving Lita crazy.

She totally loved TV commercials but would be terrified on one particular commercials the Ngiu kee worldcup ads where one fella would shout goals and see 2 footballs bouncing on the peanuts, she would turn around and run towards us and cry. I really duno whats in her minds. Commercial time is also the only time I can have her sitting on my lap and she would stay still like in paused mode, her eyes would be target lock on the TV and no matter what we do we cannot unlock her sight. If we get on her way she would push our heads away. Even halfway nen nen she would stop and watch commercials, such is the power of marketing.

She love her storybook times, especially with some cartoon effects from me, I would show her how a cow moos, how a cat meow or how a dog woof, she would laugh till she fell on her backs.

She love playing water, and will enjoy her saturday afternoon swimming pool times, sadly no other kids wanna play with her, she would follow them on her floats. Poor thing.

She had learn how to blow on her whistle.

She is still a fussy eater, will not want her baby food but will eat most of what we're eating, I guess she wants to be a part of us, she must be thinking the things we;re eating are tastier. Even just plain white rice.

Her 2 upper front teeth is now visible, makes 4 teeth, she looks like a tikus now, and I can see 2 crooked front teeth jutting out.

Tomorrow we'll have a small party to celebrate Noreens first birthday and I've still not figured out what to buy for her, I guess I'll be a boring papa and give her ang pau, I figured no point buying presents for her, shes still too young to appreciate it.

A beautiful experience

It was a saturday afternoon, the 3 of us hit the room for a quick catnap. After about an hour and a half I woke up, still in between dreams and reality I notice Noreen has her face on my chest, she was hugging me with both her tiny hands and mumbling something, I scan the room and Lita was no where in sight, I realized she had left the room earlier leaving me and Noreen to continue our sleep.

I look at her and I knew she had woken up not much earlier than me as I can still see the way she stared at me with emptiness in her eyes. She just continue to rub her face on my chest, she look like a kitten wanting affection, she is so manja this way. The feeling I got immediately was how jealous I felt, Noreen had been doing this for the pass 11 months when Lita breastfeed her, but looking at she and Lita and actually feeling the sensation, the hugging and the face rubbing on my chest was an entirely different experience.

It felt so beautiful.

I was having a full bladder and no way I'm going to the toilet, I wanted the experience to last as long as I can, I stroke her head gently and her eyes are half close starring at me. I look at Noreen and cant figured out how a tiny tots like her can move my feelings so much.

Lita creeped in the room to check on Noreen and saw the both of us and she smiled, Noreen broke away from her kitten mode and sprang to life when she saw mama. I told Lita now I finally understand why you cant weaned her off, you just cant get enough of this feelings. Its like having a taste of how heaven should feel like. Its utterly beautiful, a miracle and the feeling that God exist in full display of sensational dispersion of colors.

Such is the wonderful rewards that we redeem.

Water Baby

Notty girl now really enjoy her swimming or rather water playing session. She would chase other kids around the baby pool sadly no one wanna play with her hahaha. Nevermind manja girl papa mama here for you.

Noreen fever

Today was spose to take 3rd Pneumococcal Vaccine booster but last nite Noreen started mild fever, was quite worried and we kept monitoring her whole nite in case she might be hit with high fever.

But anyhow we went to see Dr. Margaret and she suspect its either due to flu virus or maybe she is just teething. Her temp recorded 37.5C. She weight 9.8kgs.

Hope baby has a speedy recovery and resume to be her bubbly self again.

She had a pneumococcals vaccine on 14 June.

Noreen's is 11 months old now, she can walk for short distances by herself. She knows how to wave bye bye, and she is still the notty girl who refuse to eat, very very fussy eater.

The Tricycle Parade

Went to KLIA at 3.30pm their flight was on schedule, Noreen behaved herself again, amazing girl. But with the help of entertainment from fellow passengers, a lady was kind enuf to play with her throughout the journey. They Left for Fuzhou on the 27 May and spend a night at Lita's Bros apartment with gong gong escorting them.

Gong gong and poh poh shed plenty of tears, they really miss Noreen, poh poh was the best ask Lita to have another child and leave Noreen in China for them to take care. I bet this will make her a bigger monster.

Lita said they went to the park in Gutian and every kid was having this parading tricycle with music, Noreen liked it very much and poor girl when she try to go near to play thier tricycle she was snubbed by the kids there hahahahha, gong gong's heart pain and immediately bought Noreen a parading tricycle, working at night to disassemble and pack it into a box so Lita can bring it over here for her. They really sayang her.

There was one incident when Noreen tripped and knocked her head on the floor which happen countless times over here, when she cry with her famous extra big teardrop, poh pohs heart so pain even more painful then noreen's head, both of them cry together and gong gong kena scolding hahahahha.

Lita report that her parents over sayang the Notty girl, bought frog for her to make soup which they believe will enhance the growing up and especially walking on earlier months, the grandmother kept scolding Lita coz she dun make these things thats why Noreen still didnt start walking kekekekeke.

Problem start, Diapers that she brought is running out, she bought locals diaper and rashes start appearing on the first day.

Noreen go back hometown

Today sent Lita and Noreen to KLIA, they will go back for a month, poh poh and gong gong so eager to see Noreen. I will miss her so much this whole month :(

Its a 4.5hrs flight back to China, wonder if notty girl will behave herself on the flight otherwise might kena blacklist by airline hahahaha. Request the front seat so it'll be easier for mama. Will contact them tonight and see how are things.

11pm called Lita and they arrived safely at fuzhou, Noreen behaved herself and didnt make a scene at plane...phew.

Noreen's 8 months progress

She can crawling at 10kph LOL, she is mighty curious now, everything she will want to touch and put in her mouth, dismantle everything she get her hands on. Changing her diapers now are like F1 pitstop we only have 3sec to get the job done or she will flip back and crawl away, maybe we need kiki to be the lollipop man to hold her still.

We took her to play in the pool, but no picture taken as it was the first time and being a paranoia father, both of us in the water incase anything happen. She was a bit scare I think, just sat there on her green float not moving with her expressionless face staring blankly on the water.

The table side rubber protection prove to be useless, she would peel it away and put in her mouth, we've to use silicon glue to make sure it stick at where it belong.
